Adrian Bartholemew will not forget the night his group called The Dynachords opened up for The Rockin' Berries at a performance in Gosport on April 15, 1965. The Dynachords consisted of Adrian "Ade" Bartholemew on lead guitar, drummer Tony Hennon, bass guitarist John "Jock" McCleod, rhythm guitarist Vern Rogers, and Donny Bonzer as vocalist.
Adrian has sent some great pictures of the Rockin' Berries which I hope to soon post onto the Brum Beat website. Pictured is the Dynachords line-up in front of their Bedford Dormobile (clockwise from top left; Adrian (with the Burns guitar), Vern, Jock, Tony, and Donny).
Says Adrian "The Rockin' Berries came to my home town of Gosport in Hampshire. They played a gig at The Thorngate Halls... it's still there and we (The Dynachords) were their support band. To this day, I can still remember the professionalism of the Rockin' Berries. We shared a dressing room and hearing them rehearsing their harmonies made me want to pack up and go home... we were so impressed with them! I kept the publicity pictures which they duly signed and have enclosed here as well as their playlist on the reverse of one of the pics".
"We had some great times and thought they would last forever... it would have been nice if we even touched on some of the success of the Rockin' Berries. My regards go out to them all."
